Kos




Kos is the third largest islands of the Dodecanese group and the second most popular and touristy island after Rhodes. It is located between Kalymnos and Nysiros, close to the coasts of Asia Minor. A perfect area for holidays. It is very well organised and has everything in terms of tourism infrastructure. The various charms and beauties of the Greek Island are not visible at the first sight, however, after a while, visitors will find that it is a very beautiful and attractive island with quiet nooks, picturesque villages, an excellent touristy infrastructure, verdant landscape, abundant ground water and superb beaches of various sizes and colours. Kos is characterized as one of the most touristy islands, with a high development in mass market tourism. Sandy beaches and rich history are its two major attractions, along with the vivid nightlife. Kos offers a wide variety of activities and sites of interest. Kos Town is located on the north-eastern part of the island. The town is a beautiful blend of ancient, medieval and modern architecture and it is full of greenery. It also has a vivid nightlife with many cafes, bars and clubs. The nearest beach is Lambi beach The beaches on Kos are some of the most beautiful in the Dodecanese islands. The great majority of the beaches are sandy with crystalline blue waters. The picturesque landscape makes it even more appealing. Many of the beaches are organized and offer an array of services. The numerous and beautiful beaches of Kos Island are one of the main cause of the popularity of the island. Nestled in picturesque coves or extending over kilometres, those beaches have crystalline waters varying from azure to emerald. Some of them have smooth pebbles, others have fine white sand, others golden sand and some others are blessed with rare black sand. Some among the most popular beaches are Kardamena, Kefalos, Lambi, Marmari, Tigaki.


Come arrivarci

Kos can be reached by airplane and by ferry. The Kos International Airport "Hippocrates" is located nearby Antimahia village, 22 kilometres to the south-west of Kos Town. Buses and taxis can be found outside the terminal to transfer you to your destination. There are several flights to Kos from the Athens International Airport as well as from the nearby Rhodes island. The flight time from Athens is about 1 hour and from Rhodes 35 minutes. The island is connected by ferry with Piraeus as well as with many other islands.
