Ithaca is one of the most famous islands of Greece. It is a small island, located just a few miles from the island of Kefalonia, in the Ionian Sea.
It is a beautiful mountainous and quiet island with many little beaches and a few picturesque villages.
Ithaca has kept all its authenticity and has not yet been spoiled by mass tourism.
There are fabulous beaches on Ithaca, well known for their fine sand and their turquoise water. The beaches are surrounded by lush green vegetation. Some of the beaches are more secluded whereas some have all sorts of amenities such as cafes, taverns, and bars.
How to get there
The are daily ferry connections to Ithaca from the port of Patras, the trip takes about 4 hours by regular ferry.
Ithaca is also connected from Vathy to the port of Sami, on the opposite island of Kefalonia, the ferry ride takes about 50 minutes.
Ithaca has no airport. The nearest airport is on Kefalonia.
